About CYM
Climb Your Mountain (CYM) is a health & wellbeing charity that offers information, support, advice, training, motivation and opportunities to prevent, deal with and overcome issues people face in life and improve their physical and mental health.
We do this by focusing on exercise and inspiring physical activities plus we also offer educational courses, books and talks to individuals and teams. Anyone is welcome to join in and benefit from the services, information and activities offered.
The educational arm is focused more on areas to deal with issues such as depression, stress, low confidence and low self-esteem whilst the physical activities are open to anyone who wishes to improve their health and wellbeing and benefit from the exercise, activities, challenges and social aspect.
History of CYM
Climb Your Mountain was set up by Charlie Wardle in April 2008. He founded CYM following a difficult and stressful period in his life a few years ago which resulted in a period of depression. Charlie found that focusing on physical exercise and challenges gave him the strength to cope with his situation and move on. During this time Charlie completed both the Las Vegas and Toronto marathons and believes that the training, focus and sense of achievement gave him the boost he needed to deal with and overcome this difficult period.
Recognising that many people would not know about the true benefits of exercise, or maybe find it difficult to motivate themselves because of their own circumstances the charity was set up to offer support, training, motivation, advice and provide opportunities. The Charity was established to support people with their own personal mountains to climb by giving them the opportunity to meet others and take part in exercise and physical challenges. The educational side was also set up offering information, books, courses and talks to provide knowledge and understanding so people are in a better position to help themselves and to help others.
Since 2008, there have been over 1,300 people who taken part in CYM physical activities and approximately 1,000 people who have attended the free CYM Courses & Workshops.
CYM has many volunteers with a wide range of skills and experience and continues to grow at a fast pace so that the demand for services can be met. Although based in Milton Keynes and primarily offering help and opportunities to people in the local area there are plans to expand in the future.
You can enjoy the benefits of exercise, outdoor activities and challenges with Climb Your Mountain helping yourself to better physical and mental wellbeing and also help others to deal with and overcome difficult times they are facing in their lives.

Testimonials
Climb Your Mountain has already helped hundreds of people and will continue to help hundreds more people in many ways.
Below are a few examples of quotes we have had from feedback forms recently:
CYM has given me a sense of purpose and achievement when other parts of my life were at a very low ebb. It has helped me with confidence issues about myself and given me the power to live my life more positively.
I have met different people through CYM that I probably would not have met otherwise and they have broadened my view on things and helped to keep me motivated, even when I don't feel that way..
I have started to enjoy exercise again. I have gained the motivation to exercise more throughout the week as well as with CYM. I have started to eat more healthily and have lost half a stone.... its good to socialise in a healthy way.
All the activities have helped me so much, they give me something to look forward to and a great sense of achievement afterwards which makes me feel so positive. I enjoy getting out and about with CYM, meeting new people..... they motivate me to get out of the house and do different things.
CYM has provided a social network with others who have similar feelings and provided me with a pathway and focus to help me overcome negative thoughts.
Regular exercise and the focus on a challenge has given me something to aim for. When I exercise I feel so much happier. CYM gives me support and advice and the weekly walking and running group give me something to look forward to.
With support from CYM, I climbed Kilimanjaro and proved to myself that critical illness and despression do not have to stop you achieving fantastic things. Life can get better, you just have to keep working at it.
Climbing Kilimanjaro helped me to strengthen my confidence and resolve, make new friends and generally feel better about myself.
I'm so glad I found CYM as it has changed my life..... fate is a wonderful thing.
