On Sunday 5th September we held the 3rd annual CYM Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge. Starting at 6.45am the 14 strong team climbed 3 mountains and walked 25 miles in 12 hours to complete the challenge! Congratulations to everyone!

On Saturday 14th August we had 23 people take part in the Woburn Woods Hike and despite a bit of rain everyone had a great time!

On Friday 23rd July we had the first CYM Cricket match played against Great Brickhill Cricket Club. It was a fantastic evening and thanks to everyone who came and watched and supported the team.... who won with 2 balls to spare!! A total of £500 was raised for CYM! Thank you!

On Saturday 17th July, we had 27 people take part in the Chilterns Hike walking from Aldbury to Ivanhoe Beacon and Ashridge. Great weather and beautiful countryside for a few hours. Well done everyone!

On weekend of 26th/27th June 2010, we took 18 people on the 10th CYM Snowdon weekend trip. It was a great weekend and all 18 reached the summit on the Sunday... well done to everyone!

On 1st May 2010, CYM took 18 people on the first Great Wall of China trek and it was fantastic! An amazing experience, lots of hiking and climbing and some unforgettable scenery too. The whole team was great and made it a very enjoyable and successful trip!



On the weekend 17th/18th April we had a group of 19 people experience another successful CYM Snowdon weekend. We were very lucky with the weather both days and got to see clear views from the top! Well done everyone!


On Sunday 21st March the CYM team featured on the BBC1 program 'The Sport Relief Mile Show'!! The former Olympic and World Champion, Sally Gunnell joined the CYM running club!

On Sunday 13th March, we had 27 people come with us to the Malvern Hills for a 3 hour hike. We had beautiful weather (better than the photos show!) and we look forward to going back to this lovely part of the country. Well done everyone!

On February 5th the 18 strong CYM Kilimanjaro team left to climb Africa's highest mountain at 5,895m (19,400ft).... and on Friday 12th February 16 of the team reached the Uhuru Peak Summit! It was an amazing trip, experience and challenge for all and every member of the team were fantastic and should be very proud!


On Saturday 30th January we had over 35 people (and several dogs!) join us for the Woburn Woods walk. Although cold, we had beautiful sunshine and fantastic scenary in the woods and countryside. Well done everyone!

On the weekend of 16th/17th January the CYM Kilimanjaro team went to Snowdon for the weekend for some training and team bonding! It was fantastic and on Sunday we climbed Snowdon in the snow!

To start the New Year off, on Sunday 3rd January CYM did a walk at Dunstable Downs... and 30 people joined us! It was great to see so many people and we had beautiful weather too. Well done everyone and a great start to 2010.

On Sunday 13th December, CYM had two events going on! Firstly we had 5 runners in the Bedford Half Marathon.... all did really well on a difficult course! Secondly we had 16 people particpate in the 3hr hike in the beautiful Chilterns countryside. Well done to everyone!

CYM has been named runner up (highly commended) in the 2009 PRIDE OF MK Awards..... so a big thank you to everyone who has been involved and supported CYM in the last year.

On Sunday 15th November, 29 people took part in the Dunstable Downs Hike! Beautiful weather, a steep hill and a great group of people and a couple of dogs!

On Saturday 17th October, 20 people took part in the Peak District Hike around Dove Dale, we had great weather and it was a beautiful area with a few tough hills to climb! Well done everyone.

On Sunday 27th September, we had 10 CYM runners take part in the Big Fun Run, a 5km event in Milton Keynes. For most it was their first ever running event! Everyone did very well and should be proud of themselves.

On the weekend 19th/20th September CYM did their last Snowdon trip of the year (the 6th in 2009!). All 12 in the group successfully reached the summit and had a fantastic weekend. Well done everyone!


In September, Guinness World Records confirmed that Charlie Wardle and Steve Burnett from CYM had set a new official World Record! For longest distance covered in 12 hours for a 3-legged race... 64.4km or 40.02 miles!!

On the weekend of 8th/9th August we had a group of 17 people who came to the Lake District and attempted to climb Scafell Pike on the Sunday. Unfortunately due to bad weather we had to turn back about 150m from the summit (safety is always first priority). However, everyone did very well on a difficult climb and should be very proud!


Another successful Snowdon weekend on 18th/19th July when all 11 people in the group reached the summit on Sunday! That means we have successfully taken 72 people to the top of Snowdon this year so far! Well done everyone.

On a beautiful sunny day on Saturday 30th May, we took 28 people to the Peak District where we hiked in the Beresford & Wolfscot Dales. It was a fantastic day for everyone who came with CYM and well done to everyone who completed the 4 hour walk.


On Sunday May 24th at approx 1pm we had all 9 of the group from Climb Your Mountain reach the summit of Britain's highest Mountain.... Ben Nevis! A fantastic achievment, especially with all the snow and a great weekend all round. Well done everyone.

On the weekend of 25th/26th April Climb Your Mountain took 18 people to Snowdon for the weekend and on Sunday all 18 people reached the summit! What a fantastic weekend with great weather and amazing views. Well done everyone!



On Saturday 18th April we are organising a Walk in Milton Keynes. A choice of a 5, 10 or 15 mile route starting and finishing at Willen Lake. Meet outside the Lakeside pub/restaurant at 10am to enjoy this organised walk taking in some of the best areas of Milton Keynes.
On Sunday 29th March we took a group of 26 people to the Cotswolds... beautiful, sunny day and lovely views across Gloucester and Cheltenham. Well done to everyone who took part and completed the 8 mile route.
The 'Climb Your Mountain' Kilimanjaro team have just retured home (16th February) from an amazing adventure that included 4 members reaching the 5,895 metre high summit of the world's highest free standing mountain! It is expected that over £10,000 has been raised for the charity. Please see the Kilimanjaro page for more info and photos.

You may have heard about the Comic Relief 'Red Nose Climb' with 9 celebrities climbing Kilimanjaro later in February. Chris Moyles, Cheryl Cole, Gary Barlow, Ronan Keating and others.... Well Good Luck to them! However, our very own team of 9 (non-celebrities) from CYM are climbing Kilimanjaro before them... leaving on 6th February and reaching the summit on Friday 13th!! Wish us luck!

On Sunday 25th January, a group of 16 of us went to the Peak District and took part in a lovely 4 1/2 hour walk! We had great weather and although a bit wet underfoot, everyone really enjoyed it.


Believe it or not... on January 18th a few of us braved the cold, windy and icy conditions and went to Snowdon! And reached the summit!! A wonderful day and a fantastic challenge. Well done to all!


Also on Sunday 4th January a Squash Marathon was organised by Steve & Lisa to raise sponsorship for Climb Your Mountain. The event was held at Shenley Leisure Centre from 8am to 10pm! 14 hours of playing squash! An amazing effort by all who took part and nearly £300 was raised.


On Sunday 4th January to kick off the New year... 15 people joined us for a walk down at Dustable Downs. Not far from Milton Keynes and a beautiful area and we were lucky with the weather! Many more walks on the Calendar of Events for 2009 so check them out and come with us next time!


Climb Your Mountain have been awarded a grant for £5,742 from Sport Relief and the MK Community Foundation. The grant will be used to continue the great work in training, supporting and motivating more people to take up physical challenges to help their mental well being. Many thanks for the award and look out for more details on how we will use the funds.


We are looking for people to train, support and motivate for the Milton Keynes Half-Marathon on March 8th 2009. On Saturday 22nd November, 20 people and 1 dog took part in the Chilterns Walk starting at Aldbury. Beautiful views, lovely weather and great group... also a very steep hill... and a nice pub lunch afterwards! On Saturday 25th October Climb Your Mountain took 18 people to the Peak District to enjoy the DoveDale Walk. Depsite the wind and rain everyone had a great time and saw spectacular views as well as walking approx 8 miles which involved some steep ascents and descents! Well done everyone who took part.


Climb Your Mountain has been awarded £10,000 from the 'Awards for All' division of the National Lottery. The money is to be used for 6 group trips to Snowdon during 2009! That means that over 70 local people will get a chance to experience this amazing part of North Wales and climb the mountain as part of a CYM group. If interested in being in one of the groups then please contact us!


Another successful event for Climb Your Mountain people! Below is a picture of Jane and Dion after finishing The Great Eastern Run (13.1 miles) in Peterborough on Sunday 12th October. Jane finished in 1hr 57 mins... a fantastic effort! And Dion, following his first event in August completed his second half-marathon in 1hr 42 mins! An amazing effort by both... just shows what our training can do and what you can achieve.

I successfully completed the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge on Sat 20th September in just over 9hrs 30mins! 25 miles and three mountains!

Approximately 75 people took part in the first 50 Mile MK Cycle Challenge on Saturday 13th September. We had great weather, lots of fun and well done to everyone who took part! Thanks to the MK Coummunity Foundation for their support and the MK Council for helping with this event... which will be the first of many cycling events for Climb Your Mountain.

On the weekend of 30th & 31st August we organised for a group of 10 people from the local MIND charity in Milton Keynes to go to the Snowdonia mountain region and climb Snowdon! It was a huge success with everyone safely climbing to the summit and back down... and everyone had a wonderful time and new experience. We expect to do many more organised group trips like this in the future.

Fantastic news! Dion, one of the climbers we are helping completed his first ever running event last Sunday. He ran the Burnham Beeches Half Marathon and ran a great time of 1 hr 50 mins! And he said it was one of the best experiences of his life. Well done Dion!

Jill Gardner (Personal Fitness Trainer at David Lloyd health club) successfully climbed Ben Nevis Mountain on 9th August. A fantastic effort, especially considering how wet it was that day! And she has so far raised almost £1,500 in sponsorship. Well done Jill and if you want to sponsor her you still can at www.bmycharity.com/jillybean

I successfully completed the Milton Keynes Half Marathon on Sunday 20th July.... in 1 hr 46 mins! It was a great event and we got lucky with the weather as it wasn't too hot! Next Half Marathon is on August 17th in Burnham Beeches where we have people running from Climb Your Mountain.... which is fantastic... and watch this space for the results!
We have teamed up with Milton Keynes Council to put on a 50 mile Cycle Challenge! On Saturday 13th September as part of the 'MK Cycle Week' we are organising this 'Climb Your Mountain' event which will use the 4 Heritage Trails that start and finish at Willen lake. It will be a great event and watch out for more details soon. Also we have our local MP, Mark Lancaster taking part!
We have also teamed up with the Charity MIND to organise a group trip to climb Snowdon. This will take place on 30th/31st August and there are still some places available. It will include free transport and accommodation and the chance to reach the top of Snowdon and enjoy the beautiful sites of North Wales.

We are already helping many 'climbers' to complete their chosen challenge! We are helping with training, support and motivation and everything is going really well. This is great news and we are so pleased to be actively helping people. We can't give too many details away, due to confidentiality, but we will let you know about the challenges they complete once achieved.
And we have had many people contact us wanting to help and become 'sherpas'! Again this is fantastic and we really appreciate the support and help and the positive feedback we are receiving each day. We are always keen to hear from anyone who would like to be involved or may be able to help raise awareness or sponsorship.
Thanks to the Milton Keynes Community Foundation who have agreed three small grants now to help 'Climb Your Mountain'!. They support schemes, charities and organisations in Milton Keynes and said they were very supportive and wished us all the best in taking 'Climb Your Mountain' forward.

We have teamed up with the Milton Keynes branch of the charity MIND. They see Climb Your Mountain as a great charity that can add to their good work in helping people get active. We look forward to helping with their 'Moving People' campaign.
MIND have kindly donated several new bicycles that we can use! This is great news as it means that anyone interested in doing a cycling event or training using bikes then they can... for free!
We met with Mark Lancaster MP (Milton Keynes North East) recently to tell him about the charity. He was very supportive and offered to help in any way he can. He was very enthusiastic and it was clear that he really does care for the well-being of people in Milton Keynes.
Many thanks to David Lloyd Health Club in Milton Keynes who have allowed us to set up a display and distribute leaflets about the charity. The club have been very supportive and the members have taken a real interest in what we are doing.
I was interviewed on the Breakfast Show of BBC Three Counties Radio on Thursday 29th May. The host, Ian Pearce was really enthusiastic about the Charity and the interview lasted nearly 5 minutes! Hopefully the start of things to come and a great way to help raise awareness to the people of Milton Keynes about Climb Your Mountain.
A new magazine in the Milton Keynes are called 'Maybe' Magazine was launched in mid-June and we had a great article in there on page 7 called 'Ever wanted to Climb Your Mountain?'.
