Exercise can help you lose weight, tone up, feel healthier and look better. This can be great for confidence and self-esteem. Exercise can help maintain a healthy heart, reduce cholesterol, reduce body fat, lower blood pressure and many more healthy benefits.

However, it is in the area of depression and stress that the benefits of exercise are less well known. The fact is that exercise can be the most effective way in preventing, dealing with and overcoming stress and depressive related illnesses.

Unlike many other treatments such as anti-depressants, counselling and psycho-therapy, there are no bad side effects and exercise can be very cheap or indeed free to people. All the research that has been carried out clearly shows that exercise is the most effective treatment, both short and long-term for depression and the prevention of depression occurring or re-occurring.
