In the UK, we do quite a few weekend trips where you can raise money/sponsorship or make the donation yourself to enjoy a fantastic trip and challenge such as the following:
Snowdon
Our most popular weekend trip is Snowdon which we do approximately 8 times a year with groups usually between 14 and 18 people. Depending on the weather conditions and the group itself we will choose which routes to do going up and down Snowdon (3,560 ft summit). We usually stay in a hotel just outside Llanberis on the Saturday night and do the climb up Snowdon on the Sunday. The climb usually takes between 6 and 7 hrs up and down depending on which route, conditions and size of group. On the Saturday afternoon we also do a shorter hike in a different area of Snowdonia.
We ask for a £100 donation for this trip which covers hotel costs (including breakfast), transport and supervision during the walks.
Ben Nevis
The UK's highest mountain at 4,406 ft is a long way to travel but is definitely worth it! When we did this trip in October 2010 we had the most amazing weather with glorious, bright blue skies and sunshine. This is a 3 day trip leaving on Saturday, climbing on Sunday and returning on Monday with 2 nights in a hotel in Fort William. The climb usually takes between 7 and 9 hrs up and down depending on weather conditions and the group size.
We ask for a £200 donation for this trip to cover hotel costs (including breakfast twice), transport and supervision during the trip.
Scafell Pike
This is the highest mountain in England at 3,209 ft high and is situated in the beautiful Lake District. We try to do this trip over a weekend and the climb usually takes about 6-7 hrs in total up and down. However, due to its position it can take a while to get to the starting point from the hotel.
We ask for a £125 donation for this trip to cover hotel costs (including breakfast), transport and supervision during the weekend trip.
Yorkshire 3 Peaks
This is a tough but very rewarding challenge taking on the three highest mountains in the North Yorkshire Dales. They include Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough over a 25 mile route. The challenge usually takes between 10 and 12 hrs depending on conditions and size of the group. An early start (usually before 7am)is required for this challenge!
We ask for a £125 donation for this trip to cover hotel costs (including dinner), transport and supervision during the challenge.
